THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD, A NEW
BEGINNING TO WORLD CHANGE!!
International Day of the Girl child could be described as the brainchild of the World
Conference on Women. In 1995, at the conference in Beijing, it was decided that such a day dedicated to the growth of girls around the world was a necessity. As a result, countries
unanimously adopted the Beijing
Declaration and Platform for Action.
This made the declaration the first of its kind in the way that it separated the girl child from the umbrella of women and acknowledged their specific needs. It was therefore observed on October 11th, the day focuses on the rights, safety and education of girls. The core objective is to make girls an active part of the progress of the world.
Celebrating this day is very important because it helps in raising awareness of the issues facing girls internationally, such as forced child marriage, education, legal rights, and medical rights. It marks the importance of adolescent girl children and attempts at identifying their power and potential by opening opportunities for them. It also aims at amplifying and empowering the voices of adolescent girls around the globe. This inequality includes areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women and forced child marriage. It is also important because it promotes girl’s human rights and this is 

through highlighting gender inequalities. Therefore, International Day of the Girl child, which was declared by the UN, reminds us of the urge to give the girls the importance they deserve and work together for their happier lives.it also empowers the voices of the girl child and create awareness on the rights of Children
